Court review for Brady-Giglio listed officers

If you are a peace officer placed on a Brady-Giglio list, you can ask an Iowa district court to review it. The court can review evidence in private and hold a closed hearing if requested. The court can affirm, change, or reverse the placement, including removing your name. If you win, the court must, upon application, award equitable relief and reasonable attorney fees, expenses, and court costs. The State or your city or county that employs or is responsible for the prosecuting agency pays these awards. This applies to placements or later proceedings on or after July 1, 2021. The law takes effect June 2, 2026.
