Daily silent minute in Idaho public schools

Beginning July 1, 2026, every Idaho public school holds a silent period near the start of each day. It lasts at least 60 seconds, and every student in the room takes part. No other activity happens during this time. Students may quietly reflect, meditate, pray, or do another silent activity that does not distract others. Teachers and staff must keep the room silent and stop any distracting displays. School staff may not tell students what to think during the silence. Schools must tell parents and guardians about the daily silent period and encourage them to guide their child.
