Gold and silver payments allowed, not required

Beginning July 1, 2026, Idaho treats gold and silver coins and specie—made in the U.S. or abroad—as legal tender when allowed by the U.S. Constitution. People, businesses, and the state may choose to use gold or silver for payments and official business. No one can force you to pay with or accept gold or silver unless a law or a contract says so, or both sides agree.
