New 72-hour checks for wolf traps

Beginning July 1, 2026, anyone who sets a trap or snare for a gray wolf must inspect it at least every 72 hours. You must promptly remove any animal you find. You can check in person or use a remote camera with a clear view of the trap. The Idaho Fish and Game Commission can set rules, with legislative approval, to carry out and enforce these checks. The rule applies statewide to all wolf trappers.
