Sobriety monitoring statutes repealed in 2026

Beginning July 1, 2026, the state repeals the statutes for the sobriety and drug monitoring program. Courts, prosecutors, agencies, and participants no longer use those specific rules. The law does not set a replacement program or funding.

Updated duties for Idaho Attorney General

The law updates the Attorney General’s duties. The office represents the state and most agencies in courts and administrative hearings. It advises state officials, runs Medicaid fraud and child-exploitation units, and can investigate certain local elected officials for state-law crimes. It can seek court orders to protect residents’ rights under the Idaho Health Freedom Act. The changes take effect July 1, 2026.
