Bill Overview

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 2 mixed.

Stronger cash reserves at credit unions

Beginning July 1, 2026, every Idaho credit union keeps a base cash reserve equal to 4% of outstanding shares, CDs, and similar debt. They also keep an extra 10% reserve for accounts members can access by check or draft. Reserves are held as cash or deposits you can write a check against at approved Idaho banks or corporate credit unions. Credit unions compute these amounts monthly using average daily deposits and average daily cash on hand. Certificates of deposit from the Idaho corporate credit union can count. Reserves that federal law already requires also count toward these totals.

Old cemetery rules removed from law

Beginning July 1, 2026, Idaho removes two cemetery code sections. These repeals end prior rules on cemetery owners’ duties and how cemetery law applies. The law does not add new duties or funding in their place.

Idaho corporate credit union law repealed

Beginning July 1, 2026, Idaho repeals the state framework that created and governed the corporate credit union for Idaho credit unions. The repeal removes rules on organization, powers, membership, loans, deposits, reserves, dividends, and taxes tied to that corporate credit union. Day‑to‑day credit union services for members are not specified by this change.
