2027 funding for Idaho courts

The state provides $100,502,600 to the Judicial Branch for July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Money is split across programs: Supreme Court $20.3 million, Court of Appeals $2.8 million, District Courts $39.7 million, Magistrate Division $27.8 million. Other programs include Water Adjudication $0.9 million, substance use treatment $4.9 million, Senior Judges $1.2 million, Guardian ad Litem $2.8 million, and Judicial Council $0.2 million. Funds must be spent in the listed programs and expense classes. Up to $16,222,200 in unspent ARPA money from FY2026 is reused for one-time costs in FY2027, after State Controller confirmation with the Legislative Services Office.

Monthly payments to judges' retirement

Uncommitted General Fund amounts for the state’s share of judges’ retirement are moved each month into operating expenses, then paid into the Judges’ Retirement Fund. This keeps contributions flowing for justices and judges from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

Tighter rules on moving court funds

For FY2027, the Judicial Branch cannot freely move money between its programs or expense classes. Money still cannot move between funds without the Legislature’s approval. This applies from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.
