State pays counties after five detention days

Beginning July 1, 2026, the Department of Juvenile Corrections reimburses counties for detention costs after five calendar days when a youth is committed to the Department’s custody. The five-day clock starts the first business day the Department receives the court’s signed commitment order. Faxed orders count. Orders received after 3:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time on a business day count as received the next business day.
