Idaho public retirees can keep pension while working

Beginning July 1, 2026, some PERSI retirees can work and keep their pension. You qualify if you retired before January 1, 2026 and at age 55 or older. You can return to a PERSI employer and elect to keep checks coming. You do not earn new service credit and you do not make member contributions while reemployed. The law removes the June 30, 2026 end date, so this option continues.
