Optional white-and-black plates with fees

Beginning July 1, 2026, you can buy a white plate with black letters for most passenger vehicles under 26,000 lbs. It costs $70 the first time and $50 each year to renew, on top of your regular registration. A sample plate costs $30. $5 from each fee goes to the state highway account; the rest supports the Idaho law enforcement fund. You may transfer the plate to another vehicle after paying transfer fees.
