Protections for polling place property owners

Beginning 2026-07-01, owners who let their property be used for voting without a fee get liability protection. They owe no duty to keep it safe for voting or to warn about dangers. They are not liable for injuries caused by others, and posting or missing warning signs does not create liability. If the site already has a tax exemption under sections 63-602B, 63-602C, or 63-602E, using it for voting or other legal election work does not end that exemption. These rules apply only to entry for polling purposes and when no fee is charged.
