Beginning with the 2027 registration year, Illinois offers special Air Medal license plates. You must live in Illinois and have been awarded the Air Medal. Apply with the required documents and pay the applicable plate and renewal fees. The Secretary of State sets the design, can allow vanity or personalized versions, and the plate does not have to say "Land of Lincoln." Plates can go on first-division passenger cars, motorcycles, autocycles, and second-division vehicles that weigh 8,000 pounds or less. They expire on the State’s normal multi-year schedule.
