The Department of Natural Resources can make a land management agreement with the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation for the land the State conveys to the Nation. The agreement must list each party's purpose, powers, rights, goals, and duties. It must limit gaming on the land and keep it open for public recreation during the agreement. The Director of Natural Resources must give written approval. The law also defines "land management agreement" for this land.
The Department of Natural Resources can use State staff and funds to manage, maintain, and operate the conveyed land. This only happens when the State budget provides money. The law does not set a dollar amount.
This law takes effect on the later of its own enactment or the date Senate Bill 867 takes effect. The land agreement rules only operate on that later date. This timing can delay when agreements and State support begin.
