Applicable State staff receive training on how to use the course list and the impartial review process. Training covers the list rules and what is prohibited. This helps staff apply the rules the same way statewide.
By January 1, 2027, the Illinois Department of Early Childhood posts a public list of college early childhood courses that count for teacher and director qualifications. It updates the list at least once each year. The process uses clear rules for including in‑state and out‑of‑state courses and for removing courses. Removal cannot hurt people who already took or are enrolled in a course. The Department notifies all licensed child care centers about updates, offers an impartial review for courses marked ineligible, and colleges must send course details in the format the Department sets.
