Faster wildlife rules in emergencies

The Natural Resources Department can use emergency rules to put this law’s Wildlife Code changes into effect. This is declared necessary for public interest, safety, and welfare. The authority only covers changes from this law. It ends one year after the law’s effective date.

Gray fox hunting limited to set season

It is unlawful to trap or hunt gray fox except during an open season. The Natural Resources Department sets the season each year between 12:01 a.m., November 1 and 12:00 midnight, February 15, both inclusive. The Department can change dates, lengthen, shorten, or close the gray fox season by rule if populations are affected. It can also set or change daily bag or possession limits for gray fox. This applies to people who hunt or trap gray fox in Illinois.
