Tough rules against ticket-buying bots

The law makes it illegal to use bots to buy online event tickets. It bans using multiple IPs, accounts, or emails to beat posted limits. It also bans bypassing queues, waiting periods, or presale codes. Breaking these rules is treated as consumer fraud, so the Attorney General can use fraud penalties and remedies. This helps honest buyers get fairer access to tickets.

Venues must report ticket bot abuses

If you run an event venue or sell tickets for one, you must report known bot-ticket violations to the Illinois Attorney General. Report soon after you discover the violation. Your report must describe what happened, share any info on who was involved, and list steps taken or planned to stop it.
