The law lets Illinois public safety agencies and their public or private contractors help other public safety agencies in Illinois or in neighboring states during a disaster. Disasters include fires, earthquakes, floods, tornadoes, hazardous material incidents, and similar events. Help is allowed at the time of the disaster. This enables more responders and equipment to protect communities. The law does not create new funding, penalties, or extra operating rules.
