Condo ombudsperson office ends Jan 1, 2026

Beginning January 1, 2026, the law repeals the Condominium and Common Interest Community Ombudsperson Act. Condo and common interest community owners lose the state office for complaints, mediation, and oversight. Common interest community and unit owners’ associations no longer have to follow the ombudsperson rules. Until that date, covered associations must still comply, except those exempt under Section 1-75. The law creates no replacement program or funding.
