Have your insurer pay your provider

Beginning January 1, 2026, you can sign your claim over to your doctor or dentist. When you do, your health or dental plan must pay that provider directly. Plans must pay within 30 days after they get due proof of loss, or pay interest on the late amount. These rules apply to insurers, HMOs, limited health service plans, and dental service plan companies. This helps you avoid paying large bills up front and waiting for reimbursement.
