Temporary educator approval with licensing deadline

The law creates a Short-Term Approval so you can teach in a set subject or grade for a limited time. The State Board of Education sets the rules, and the approval can be added to a license or stand alone. The approval has an expiration date and cannot be renewed. To keep serving after it ends, you must earn the matching license or endorsement before it expires. You can get one extension of up to one year only if a serious health condition, as defined by the federal Family and Medical Leave Act, kept you from applying for or receiving the license on time.
