Hazardous waste rules for Kansas businesses
The law authorizes the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to adopt permanent rules on hazardous waste monitoring and permit application fees, as identified in its August 22, 2025 economic impact statement. The department provided that statement to the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources on February 10, 2026. Businesses and facilities that handle hazardous waste in Kansas must follow the adopted rules and pay any permit application fees they set. The act takes effect when it is published in the Kansas Register.
