The Lakewood Crime Prevention and Improvement District in Orleans Parish has a higher annual fee cap: $600 per parcel, up from $450. The board sets the flat fee by resolution, so the higher cap does not automatically raise bills. A parcel means a lot or lots with only one main house. The fee expires when its authorizing ballot measure states, with a term no longer than eight years. Renewals require voter approval under the Louisiana Election Code, with each renewal term also limited to eight years.
