New dealer rules for gun-safety credits

For tax periods beginning January 1, 2025, or later, Louisiana changes which firearm safety device purchases qualify for its credit. Purchases of one or more safety devices must be Louisiana sales transactions. Dealers no longer need a federal firearms license, but must be required to collect sales and use tax on the sale. Firearm purchases do not qualify. This law does not specify the credit amount.
