Louisiana's health department must set minimum personal needs allowances for residents of nursing homes and other healthcare facilities. The monthly minimums are $50 for an individual and $100 for a married couple living in such facilities. These increases apply only after a state law specifically funding implementation takes effect. The department can seek federal matching money through a Medicaid waiver or state plan amendment.
