More patients qualify for remote monitoring

Louisiana patients now need only one qualifying condition for remote patient monitoring, instead of two. A healthcare provider must recommend the service for disease management. Patients qualify with a chronic condition defined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Examples include sickle cell disease, mental illness, asthma, diabetes, cancer, and heart disease. Another path is two or more hospitalizations, including emergency-room visits, in the past 12 months due to chronic conditions. Pregnant or postpartum patients also qualify, as do infants discharged from a hospital after needing neonatal intensive care.
