Dalton voters elect water commissioners

Dalton voters elect five water commissioners to manage the water works and sinking fund. At the first annual meeting after the law takes effect, three positions are filled: the top two vote-getters serve three years, and the third serves two. After that, one or two commissioners are elected each year for three-year terms; current members finish their terms, and the board chooses a chair each year. The board may set water prices, subject to district-voted rules, and appoints the district treasurer and clerk. The law does not itself change water charges; a majority forms a quorum, and the district can fill vacancies for the rest of a term.
