Sudbury votes on seniors’ tax relief

Sudbury voters control whether eligible senior homeowners keep this means-tested property tax relief. Town meeting votes every 3 calendar years on extending it for another 3 years. A yes vote continues the exemption; a no vote pauses it until town meeting votes to restart it for another 3-year term. At a regular or special election, voters can also pause or restart it by majority vote if the select board puts the question on the ballot. An election pause requires a later election to restart, and election votes take effect 30 days later.
