Lexington land swap for schools and parks

The law lets Lexington’s select board transfer about eight acres of athletic fields to the school committee for school use. The land is identified in deeds at the Middlesex South registry (Book 3953, Page 561; Book 3981, Page 109). The transfer depends on a Special Town Meeting vote on November 3, 2025 and compliance with section 15A of chapter 40, section 5A of chapter 3, and Chapter 114 of the Acts of 1961. As a condition, the town must move the parcels with the Lexington High School buildings (shown in “Figure G,” dated October 3, 2025) to the select board for a new high school athletic field, a public park, open space, and recreation. These steps ensure no net loss of land protected by Article 97.
