Beverly police chief can serve until 70

John G. LeLacheur can keep serving as Beverly police chief. Service continues until he turns 70, retires, or the mayor removes him, whichever comes first. He must be mentally and physically able to do the job. The city can require an impartial doctor exam and must pay for it. No pension deductions are taken from his pay for work after age 65. When he retires, his pension is the same as if he retired at 65. The law takes effect upon passage.
