Boston adjusts Joslin Park for hospital road

The law lets Boston grant a 3,654 sq ft roadway easement in Joslin Park to support a new cancer hospital and road work. The park can be used temporarily during construction. In return, the City abandons certain street easements and receives park land, including areas of about 1,516, 2,378, 189, and 920 sq ft, to be held for public park use under Article 97. The deed covers at least the top 12 inches; the nearby owner keeps deeper subsurface and utility rights and must restore the surface after work. Parcel sizes may shift during permitting, but the total land given to Parks cannot be less than 3,654 sq ft. The act takes effect upon passage.
