Marion land shift for path and conservation

The law lets Marion’s Open Space Acquisition Commission transfer control of a 2,977-square-foot piece of town land to the Select Board for a shared use path. The piece is shown as “BP-8” on a plan dated February 18, 2026. As mitigation, the Select Board must transfer about 13.38 acres at Old Indian Trail (map 26, lot 15; plan #341 of 2001) to the Commission. That land is held for passive recreation and conservation under state open space law. It is subject to the state LAND grant rules (301 CMR 5.00) and Article 97 of the state Constitution. This act takes effect upon passage.
