Upton fire chief can work past 65

Michael Marchand can serve as Upton fire chief until age 70, retirement, or removal by the select board or town manager, whichever comes first. He must remain mentally and physically able to do the job. Town leaders may require an annual exam by a doctor they choose, paid for by the town. For work after age 65, pension deductions stop. When he retires for superannuation, his allowance equals what he would have received at age 65. The law takes effect upon passage.
