Easier contracting for Brighton housing project

The law streamlines contracting for the Boston Housing Authority’s Faneuil Gardens redevelopment in Brighton. It covers the Faneuil Gardens site and the nearby corner at North Beacon and Goodenough (Parcels 2202616000 and 2202627000). For this project, procurement rules in chapter 149, chapter 7C, and section 39M of chapter 30 do not apply. This covers planning, design, construction, and related work. Acquiring land or rights is not subject to section 16 of chapter 30B. Prevailing wage and related labor rules in sections 26 through 27H of chapter 149 still apply. The project adds affordable and mixed-income homes, cultural space, and replacement musician rehearsal space. This change takes effect immediately.
