Road fix easements and conservation land set-aside

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation can take small land interests for a road project in Woburn and Burlington. The land is held in trust by the city of Boston for the Mary P. C. Cummings Testamentary Trust. The taking covers 4,603 square feet for temporary work and 8,917 square feet as permanent easements. These areas are shown on a plan dated May 27, 2026, which is filed with the agency’s chief engineer and recorded at the Middlesex North registry of deeds. To meet Article 97 no‑net‑loss, about 9 acres at 7 Wheeler Road in Burlington are protected by a recorded conservation restriction (Middlesex South, Book 78014, Page 433) under special permit conditions G and H (Book 71169, Page 469). The town accepted this restriction, and the Trust, through the city of Boston, does not oppose the mitigation. The transportation agency pays for engineering, surveys, appraisals, and deed work to carry out the takings.
