More farmers market help for SNAP families

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland’s Agriculture Department can use the Farms and Families Fund directly or fund qualified partners. Partners must show experience with healthy food incentives, handling and tracking money, market training, outreach, data collection, and accounting. Recipients must send at least 60% to participating farmers markets for local coordinators and purchase matches for SNAP, WIC, and Farmers Market Nutrition Program customers. No more than 40% can cover program development, outreach, training, technical help, data collection, evaluation, administration, and reporting. The fund also supports nonprofit markets with logistics and marketing to increase food-benefit use, and groups running the program with local markets.
