New assistive technology help for disabled Marylanders

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland's Department of Disabilities provides assistive technology services, including statewide short-term device loans through lending libraries. The law does not guarantee anyone a device or service. It also creates a fund managed by the Secretary of Disabilities, with unused money carried forward and interest retained. The fund can receive service revenue, state budget money, and other accepted money. Spending must follow the state budget and support only program operations, including device purchases. The law sets no funding amount.
