Loan help expands for part-time dental workers

Beginning July 1, 2025, part-time dentists and dental hygienists can qualify for Maryland Dent-Care student loan assistance grants. Applicants must hold a Maryland dental license, show financial need, and meet Office of Student Financial Assistance criteria. For three years, Maryland Medical Assistance recipients must make up at least 30% of patients annually—of the dentist or hygienist’s practice. Recipients must keep working full time or part time and maintain that patient share to keep their grants. State agencies must set prorated part-time awards; the law gives no part-time dollar amounts or formula.
