No tint exemption renewals for permanent conditions

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland medical certifications for darker vehicle windows last indefinitely for owners with permanent qualifying conditions. A Maryland-licensed doctor must certify the owner's medical need for sun protection and determine that the condition is permanent. The exemption allows window tint that lets through less than 35% of light. For other qualifying conditions, the doctor sets the certification period, up to 2 years. Keep the written certification in the vehicle when police stop it.
