Veterans’ clubs gain a license conversion path

Beginning July 1, 2025, qualifying Anne Arundel County veterans’ groups can convert existing Class C beer, wine, and liquor licenses to veterans’ licenses. The conversion counts as a renewal, not a new license. Groups must be local units of nationwide nonprofits or clubs, with membership limited to U.S. armed forces veterans of wars involving the United States. They need a national veterans’ organization charter issued before applying and at least 100 members, each paying $5 or more in yearly dues. They must operate for members and hold meetings in a clubhouse mainly used by members.

Veterans’ clubs pay less and sell Sundays

Beginning July 1, 2025, Anne Arundel County’s annual Class C veterans’ license fee falls from $400 to $300, saving $100. The county licensing board can also discount application and administrative fees for qualifying veterans’ groups holding, seeking, renewing, or converting to this license. Those discounts are optional, and the law sets no discount amount. Veterans’ license holders can sell beer, wine, and liquor for drinking at the licensed location every day, including Sunday. Sales hours are 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day, with no separate Sunday license needed.
