Weekly earnings reports for rideshare drivers

Beginning January 1, 2026, Maryland rideshare companies must give each driver a weekly fare and earnings summary. Reports must show total passenger fares, extra passenger fees, and the driver's total earnings. They must also show the driver's earnings from fares and fees as percentages of the corresponding passenger totals. Companies may include other information, such as earnings from work outside rideshare services. The law requires clearer earnings information, not higher pay.

Public access limits on rideshare reports

Beginning January 1, 2026, Maryland's Public Service Commission must keep information obtained under the rideshare reporting rule confidential. This protection applies only to information that is not otherwise publicly available. The law treats it as trade-secret and proprietary information, exempt from disclosure under Maryland's Public Information Act. The General Assembly can request a report, but that report must also stay confidential and exempt from public disclosure.
