More grants for Maryland’s African American heritage

Beginning July 1, 2025, Maryland can award noncapital grants to preserve or share African American history and culture. Individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and local governments are eligible. These grants use money the preservation fund receives through grants and donations. Grants to individuals, businesses, or local governments cannot exceed $500,000. After all eligible noncapital grants are awarded, leftover donation and grant money can support capital preservation projects.
