Maryland pension employers switch fee payment methods

Effective June 1, 2025, the law ends separate employer fees for Maryland State Retirement and Pension System administrative costs. Local employers still had to pay their certified fiscal year 2025 fees by June 1, 2025, despite the repeal. In fiscal year 2026, each system’s accumulation fund pays its share of administrative and operating costs. Starting in fiscal year 2027, these costs become part of employers’ annually certified pension contribution rates. Investment Division administrative and operating costs are excluded from that contribution-rate amount.
