Protection after short condo insurance gaps

Maryland insurers cannot deny new condo unit coverage solely because of a qualifying gap in prior coverage. The gap must follow an insurer leaving the condo insurance market and last 90 days or less. Applicants must provide required documents, including a sworn statement that no losses occurred during the gap, if requested. Insurers can still deny coverage for other reasons. The law took effect October 1, 2025, and applies to new policies issued on or after January 1, 2026.
