Montgomery County student board member gets pay

Beginning July 1, 2025, Montgomery County’s student school board member receives annual compensation tied to public college costs. The amount matches the highest resident undergraduate tuition, required fees, and room and board at a four-year University System of Maryland school. It uses costs for the academic year the student serves. The University of Maryland Global Campus and University of Maryland, Baltimore Campus are excluded. Total pay cannot exceed an elected board member’s pay for that year. The student can choose monthly stipends during the term and receive the rest as a scholarship afterward. Official out-of-pocket expenses remain reimbursable.
