Charles County gains off-road vehicle rule powers

Beginning October 1, 2025, Charles County can set operating rules and age limits for off-highway recreational vehicles. It can also require county registration and charge a registration fee. The state law sets no fee amount or age limit; those choices depend on county action. The county can authorize impoundment of vehicles tied to alleged violations of Transportation Article Title 21, Subtitle 9, or Criminal Law Article § 6-404 or § 6-405. The law does not require impoundment in every case.
