Payment plans for overdue Maryland tolls

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland law requires an income-based payment plan program for unpaid video tolls and civil penalties. You may apply if you owe at least $300; the Maryland Transportation Authority sets income limits, verification rules, payment options, and application procedures. You retain the options to pay directly or contest the citation in court. The Authority may also take delinquent accounts back from the Central Collection Unit and approve payment plans. Recall is optional and covers accounts exceeding $300 when the tolls were assessed within a 30-day period. The Authority may also recall accounts based on mitigating factors, subject to regulations. Existing collection enforcement remains, and missed plan payments may send the unpaid balance to the Central Collection Unit.
