Lower alcohol license costs for veterans’ clubs

Beginning July 1, 2025, qualifying Anne Arundel County veterans’ clubs can get a Class C veterans’ organization alcohol license. Clubs must be local units of nationwide veterans’ organizations, with a national charter granted before applying. Membership must consist only of veterans who served in U.S. armed forces during a war involving the United States. Clubs need at least 100 members, annual dues of at least $5 per member, and a clubhouse mainly for members. They must operate for their members. Existing Class C beer, wine, and liquor license holders that qualify can apply to convert; conversion counts as renewal. The annual veterans’ license fee drops from $400 to $300, saving $100 each year. The county licensing board can also discount application and administrative fees for qualifying holders, applicants, and converting clubs; discounts are not guaranteed. License holders can sell beer, wine, and liquor for on-site drinking daily, from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day. No separate Sunday license is needed, and bar or counter service is allowed on legal sales days.
