Maryland local governments set tax rates earlier

Beginning July 1, 2025, Maryland counties, Baltimore City, and municipalities must set next year's property tax rates before June 20. This replaces the deadline of before July 1. Rates must be set after the annual finality date, and counties and Baltimore City remain subject to § 6-305. Municipalities keep authority to set special rates for property classes unless state property tax law prohibits them. The law changes the deadline, not property tax rates or household tax bills.
