Marylanders with disabilities get assistive technology support

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland's Department of Disabilities runs the Maryland Assistive Technology Program. It serves people with disabilities and their supporters through short-term device loans from statewide lending libraries and other services. The law does not guarantee services to any individual. A dedicated fund supports program operations and device purchases, using service revenue, state funding, interest, and other accepted money. Unspent money and interest stay in the fund. Spending must follow the state budget and add to, not replace, other program funding. The law sets no funding amount.
