Maryland emergency toll changes can last longer

Beginning October 1, 2025, Maryland Transportation Authority emergency toll, fee, and other charge adjustments can last up to 300 days, up from 180. Emergency action is allowed when normal procedures cannot meet bond-related obligations or unforeseen events threaten continued transportation operations. The Authority must immediately post public notice online and begin the required public notice and comment process. Temporary adjustments end when the emergency status expires. The law sets no dollar increase; costs for facility users depend on the adjustments adopted.
